Food Frontier has announced that the Secretary-General of the Global Alliance for a Sustainable Planet will be the keynote speaker at its AltProteins 24 conference in October.
Satya Tripathi has served with the UN for more than two decades in key positions across the globe and was most recently the UN Assistant Secretary-General, Head of New York Office at UN Environment and Secretary of the UN Environment Management Group.
“With global food systems at the forefront of climate change and responsible for between one-quarter and one-third of all global greenhouse gas emissions, finding sustainable and innovative solutions is imperative,” says Food Frontier. “Mr Tripathi’s presentation will shed light on the urgent need for collaborative action.”
AltProteins 24 will feature more than 40 speakers from Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Brazil, Sweden, Hong Kong, Singapore, The Netherlands, the US, and Germany. These industry experts will unearth the latest success stories and insights about alternative proteins.
With a focus on building sustainable food systems, the conference will also feature a debate on catalysing food as a central climate change issue.
The Victorian government – through support from Agriculture Victoria, Global Victoria and Invest Victoria – is the lead sponsor of AltProteins 24. Global Victoria will lead an interactive workshop on entering international markets, with a focus on the APAC region.
“Now in its third year, AltProteins 24 will tackle the challenges and opportunities in the alternative protein sector across the breadth of the plant-based meat, cell cultivation, and precision fermentation industries,” says Food Frontier CEO Dr Simon Eassom.
“We are excited to welcome a diverse array of international speakers to Australia, including Satya Tripathi. Alternative proteins are essential for meeting the rising demand for low-emissions protein sources whilst addressing the requirements of an increasing global population. Australia, NZ, and Asia are uniquely positioned to meet this demand.”
AltProteins 24 will be held on Thursday, 10 October at Sofitel on Collins in Melbourne.
