    Guzman y Gomez launches new plant-based filling

    After three years of development, Australia’s “fastest growing” Mexican fast food giant, Guzman y Gomez (GYG) has launched its first plant-based filling in three years — Shredded Shiitake Mushrooms.

    The mushroom filling is the first new filling to be introduced to the GYG menu since 2018 and is available in restaurants across the country.

    For three years, GYG has been working on the “perfect” plant-based protein filling that 100% matched their strict clean guidelines – no artificial flavours, no added preservatives, no unacceptable additives, and no added colours.

    In collaboration with Aussie food innovators, Fable Food Co, GYG has developed a Shredded Shiitake Mushroom protein filling seasoned with GYG’s distinctive authentic Mexican flavours including smoked paprika, garlic and onion.

    To celebrate the launch, GYG has introduced a new taco, The Chimi Shredded Mushroom Taco. Made with a fresh soft shell tortilla, filled with shredded mushroom, crisp iceberg lettuce and topped with GYG’s signature Pico de Gallo and Chimi Mayo for $5. From bowls to burritos, the protein filling will be available for lunch and dinner.

    GYG’s entire menu contains no added preservatives, no artificial flavours, no added colours, and no unacceptable additives. Fresh and made to order daily.

    GYG’s new shredded mushroom filling is available across the menu range with the exception of breakfast items.
