The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 6.1¢ to 181¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 4 December, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 7.3¢ to 177.7¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 3.7¢ to 187.8¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 200.1¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (192.9¢), NSW/ACT (182.6¢), Western Australia (182.6¢), South Australia (179.9¢), Queensland (179.2¢), and Victoria (178.4¢).
Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 176.1¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (176.2¢), Brisbane (176.4¢), Adelaide (178.7¢), Perth (181.1¢), Canberra (186.4¢), Darwin (186.5¢), and Hobart (192.6).
