Weekly diesel prices

The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia fell 4.5¢ to 226.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 4 December, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 4.8¢ to 225.4¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 4.2¢ to 228.2¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 247.5¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (237.8¢), Queensland (230¢), Victoria (228.1¢), NSW/ACT (227.8¢), South Australia (218.3¢), and Western Australia (217.4¢).

Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 213.4¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (214.5¢), Sydney (223.8¢), Melbourne (227.8¢), Brisbane (229.9¢), Canberra (233.7¢), Darwin (236.8¢), and Hobart (239.2¢).
