The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 5¢ to 147.8¢ a litre nationally in the week ending May 26, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 6.9¢ to 147.5¢ a litre, with the regional price falling 1.1¢ to 148.4¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in Tasmania at 154.9¢ a litre, followed by the NT (154¢), Queensland (153¢), NSW/ACT (149.6¢), WA (148¢), SA (142.9¢) and Victoria (142¢).
Of the major cities, Melbourne offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 141.1¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (142¢), Darwin (142.7¢), Canberra (147¢), Perth (147.2¢), Sydney (150.5¢), Hobart (154.6¢) and Brisbane (155.1¢).
