Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 1.3¢ to 175.6¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 28 May, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 2.5¢ to 174¢ a litre, while the regional price fell by 1.4¢ to 178.7¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 196.2¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (182.4¢), South Australia (181.1¢), Western Australia (175.7¢), Queensland (175.3¢), Victoria (174.8¢), and NSW/ACT (174¢).

Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 171¢ a litre, followed by Brisbane (173.6¢), Melbourne (173.7¢), Perth (174¢), Canberra (180¢), Adelaide (181.2¢), Darwin (181.6¢), and Hobart (182.3¢).
