The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 2.6¢ to 168.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 24 April, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 5.1¢ to 166.7¢, while the regional price fell 2.7¢ to 173.4¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 192.6¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (178.5¢), South Australia (171.5¢), Western Australia (171.1¢), NSW/ACT (168¢), Victoria (167.9¢), and Queensland (167.5¢).
Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 162.9¢ a litre, followed by Brisbane (165.3¢), Melbourne (167.2¢), Perth (169.7¢), Adelaide (169.8¢), Canberra (174.4¢), Hobart (176.4¢), and Darwin (184.8¢).
