The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 5.7¢ to 198.4¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 22 October, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 7.1¢ to 196.8¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 2.8¢ to 201.7¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 216¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (206.9¢), Queensland (205.8¢), South Australia (199.2¢), Victoria (196.2¢), Western Australia (195.8¢), and NSW/ACT (195.2¢).
Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 188.6¢ a litre, followed by Perth (193.3¢), Melbourne (195.4¢), Adelaide (199.3¢), Hobart (203.8¢), Darwin (204.8¢), Canberra (208.8¢), and Brisbane (208.3¢).
