The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 4.1¢ to 175.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 22 January, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 5.1¢ to 174.5¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 2.1¢ to 178.8¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 191.3¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (180.9¢), South Australia (179.1¢), Queensland (176.9¢), Victoria (176.5¢), NSW/ACT (174.1¢), and Western Australia (173.6¢).
Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 169.2¢ a litre, followed by Perth (171.9¢), Darwin (176¢), Melbourne (176.3¢), Canberra (176.4¢), Brisbane (177.6¢), Adelaide (179.5¢), and Hobart (180.5¢).
