The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 8.6¢ to 196.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 13 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 10.7¢ to 197.5¢ a litre, while the regional price rose by 4.6¢ to 194.6¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 205.5¢ a litre, followed by South Australia (203.1¢), NSW/ACT (202.5¢), Tasmania (201.9¢), Victoria (193.1¢), Western Australia (192.7¢), and Queensland (189.9¢).
Of the major cities, Brisbane offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 188.2¢ a litre, followed by Perth (191.6¢), Melbourne (194.1¢), Darwin (194.8¢), Canberra (198.1¢), Hobart (201¢), Adelaide (206.4¢), and Sydney (207.9¢).
