The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 5.1¢ to 175.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 11 December, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 5.8¢ to 171.9¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 3.8¢ to 184¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 197¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (188.4¢), NSW/ACT (177.1¢), Western Australia (177.1¢), South Australia (174.4¢), Victoria (174.2¢), and Queensland (173.8¢).
Of the major cities, Brisbane offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 169.9¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (170.1¢), Melbourne (171.1¢), Adelaide (172.3¢), Perth (175¢), Darwin (182.9¢), Canberra (183.1¢), and Hobart (189.4).
