Weekly diesel prices

The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia fell 5.6¢ to 221.3¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 11 December, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 6.2¢ to 219.2¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 5.1¢ to 223.1¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 242.2¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (229.4¢), Queensland (225.5¢), Victoria (223.2¢), NSW/ACT (222¢), South Australia (212.7¢), and Western Australia (209.9¢).

Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 204.9¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (208.8¢), Sydney (216.8¢), Melbourne (222.8¢), Brisbane (225.2¢), Canberra (228¢), Darwin (229.5¢), and Hobart (230.1¢).
