The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia fell 1.5¢ to 199¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 5 March, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 1.6¢ to 196.2¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 1.4¢ to 201.3¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 225.8¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (210.5¢), Queensland (200.3¢), NSW/ACT (200.2¢), Victoria (198.7¢), South Australia (196.4¢), and Western Australia (190.7¢).
Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 186¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (190¢), Sydney (196.2¢), Melbourne (197.2¢), Brisbane (199.3¢), Hobart (208.2¢), Canberra (209.1¢), and Darwin (210.1¢).
