The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia rose 5.6¢ to 204.1¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 4 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 5.5¢ to 202.5¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 5.7¢ to 205.4¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 224.5¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (206.7¢), NSW/ACT (206.1¢), South Australia (204.9¢), Victoria (203.4¢), Queensland (202.9¢), and Western Australia (200.5¢).
Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 197.3¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (200.6¢), Melbourne (202.2¢), Brisbane (202.5¢), Sydney (205.5¢), Hobart (207.5¢), Darwin (210.3¢), and Canberra (211.2¢).
