The average price of diesel fuel in Australia fell 0.8¢ to 162.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 12 December, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 0.9¢ to 161.8¢ a litre, while the regional fell 0.8¢ to 163¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 176.4¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (170.8¢), Western Australia (162.5¢), NSW/ACT (162.2¢), Queensland (162¢), Victoria (161.9¢), and South Australia (159.8¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 157.4¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (159.9¢), Melbourne (161.4¢), Perth (161.4¢), Brisbane (162.4¢), Darwin (165.4¢), Canberra (166.1¢), and Hobart (174.3¢).
