The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 0.4¢ to 119.8¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 5 July, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 0.4¢ to 117.9¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 0.4¢ to 121.4¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 133.9¢, then Tasmania at 133.5¢ a litre, followed by Western Australia (120.7¢), South Australia (119.6¢), NSW/ACT (119.5¢), Victoria (118.5¢) and Queensland (118.2¢).
Of the major cities, Darwin offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 114.1¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (114.8¢), Sydney (116.5¢), Melbourne (117.5¢), Brisbane (117.7¢), Perth (118.4¢), Canberra (121.4¢) and Hobart (134.5¢).
