UK retailers slurp up vending solution

‘Just add water’ might seem as simple as it gets when it comes to instant noodles, but in the UK, a popular healthy noodle brand has made things even easier by rolling out a noodle bar vending machine.

Mr Lee’s Pure Foods launched its “healthy” hot food vending solution at Moto Cherwell Valley Services on the M40 motorway in Oxfordshire earlier this year, and plans to roll out more across the UK.

Designed and manufactured in conjunction with engineering firm RBC Group, the kiosks offer a diverse range of hot and “healthy” on-the-go foods including instant rice noodles, breakfast porridge, and congee.

Customers can choose to take the product away in a dry format for later preparation or add hot water to enjoy their food immediately. The kiosks also offer the possibility of adding a splash of soy sauce or chilli oil to noodles and congee, with forks and spoons offered.

The unit is available 24/7 and comes with high-tech features such as a large interactive touchscreen enabling users to access information about the products, immersive experiences and cashless payment systems.

“At Mr Lee’s, we want to encourage healthier consumption habits,” says Martin Verspeak, COO at Mr Lee’s Pure Foods Kiosk Technologies.

“Our vending machine, packed full of hot instant foods with no artificial ingredients, allows us to make healthier choices available to everyone.”

The instant food snacks from Mr Lee’s Pure Foods, which recently ceased trading in Australia, are promoted as being healthy, low in sugar and saturated fats, with no artificial additives.
