With more and more people becoming aware of the benefits of plant-based eating, retailers are seeing stronger demand for vegan and vegetarian options.
Providing healthy plant-based options is very important to Oliver’s, a QSR with a focus on nutrient-dense food.
“We’re an industry leader in providing healthy food for those travelling by road,” says Oliver’s Real Food dietitian Nat Sharpe.
“As health is at the core of our founding ethos, having vegan and vegetarian menu options has always been a priority for us.
“A diet rich in fruits and vegetables ensures you get enough essential vitamins and minerals. This is one of the reasons we have a plant-based focus. Our extensive vegan and vegetarian offering also aligns with our environmental values.”
Oliver’s has a variety of vegan and vegetarian options across its menu, food to go and retail lines from breakfast through to dinner and everything in between.
Meal options include the signature Oli Burger (plant-based patty served with salad and vegan garlic aioli on a beetroot bun), Moroccan chickpea wrap and Mexican pita pocket. It also serves vegan sides such as its renowned steamed green beans, organic hash browns, rice nuggets or sweet potato chips.
“For those looking for something to take on the road with them, we have a range of vegan snacks including coconut yoghurt cups, cookies, energy balls, organic popcorn, mixed nuts, and vegan chocolates,” Ms Sharpe says.
Oliver’s smoothies are also popular.
“It’s very hard even to this day to find a healthy, fresh smoothie on the highways,” Ms Sharpe says. “For a vegan smoothie option, we use coconut yoghurt and organic maple syrup.”
Commenting on the growing demand for vegan and vegetarian options in the market, she says Oliver’s is naturally well prepared and has “taken the opportunity to continue innovating our plant-based offering to cater for this growing demand”.
