Petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia decreased by 0.8¢ to 116.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending July 17, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleums Weekly Petrol Pricesreport.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price decreased 0.7¢ to 114.6¢ a litre, with the regional price decreasing 1.1¢ to 121.5¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 124.4¢ a litre followed by the NT (122.6¢), WA (122¢), NSW/ACT (121¢), SA (117.7¢), Queensland (115.2¢), and Victoria (109.6¢).

Of the major cities, Melbourne offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 107¢ a litre, followed by Brisbane (109.9¢), Adelaide (118.1¢), Sydney (119.8¢), Darwin (120.4¢), Perth (121¢), Hobart (124.4¢) and Canberra (128.6¢).
