Petrol price update

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia decreased 6.3¢ to 113.7¢ a litre nationally in the week ending January 24, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price decreased 8.3¢ to 110.6¢ a litre, with the regional price decreasing 2.3¢ a litre to 119.9¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 128.4¢ a litre, followed by the NT (127.7¢), WA (120.7¢), Queensland (118.1¢), NSW/ACT (111.9¢), Victoria (109.8¢), and SA (106.5¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 102.4¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (105.7¢), Melbourne (107.1¢), Brisbane (116.6¢), Perth (118.1¢), Darwin (124.9¢), Canberra (125.7¢), and Hobart (128.5¢).
