Petrol price update

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia decreased 1.8¢ to 111.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending January 31, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price decreased 1.7¢ to 108.9¢ a litre, with the regional price decreasing 2.1¢ a litre to 117.8¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in NT at 127.5¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (126.7¢), WA (118.4¢), SA (115.8¢), Queensland (114.5¢), NSW/ACT (110.4¢), and Victoria (105.7¢).

Of the major cities, Melbourne offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 102.4¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (104.7¢), Brisbane (112.5¢), Adelaide (115.3¢), Perth (115.5¢), Darwin and Canberra (124.7¢) and Hobart (126.3¢).
