Petrol price update

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia decreased 1.9¢ to 120¢ a litre nationally in the week ending January 17, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price decreased 2.4¢ to 118.9¢ a litre, with the regional price decreasing 1¢ a litre to 122.2¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 130.2¢ a litre, followed by the NT (128¢), Queensland (125.8¢), WA (122.4¢), NSW/ACT (120.4¢), Victoria (115.2¢), and SA (112.2¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 109.6¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (113.6¢), Sydney (119.2¢), Perth (120.2¢), Darwin (125.2¢), Canberra (126.1¢), Brisbane (127.3¢), and Hobart (130.0¢).
