The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia decreased by 4.4¢ to 124.8¢ a litre nationally in the week ending May 21, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s Weekly Petrol Prices report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price decreased by 5.9¢ to 122.6¢ a litre, with the regional price decreasing 1.3¢ to 129.3¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 139.3¢ a litre, followed by the Northern Territory (133.8¢), Queensland (127.3¢), Western Australia (125.7¢), NSW/ACT (124.3¢), South Australia (122.9¢) and Victoria (122.3¢).
Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 120.2¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (120.8¢), Adelaide (121.3¢), Perth (124¢), Brisbane (125.7¢), Canberra (129.8¢), Darwin (131.3¢) and Hobart (138.9¢).
