The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose by 3.5¢ to 130.6¢ a litre nationally in the week ending March 19, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s Weekly Petrol Prices report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 5.2¢ to 129.8¢ a litre, with the regional price falling 0.1¢ to 132.2¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 141.9¢ a litre, followed by the Northern Territory (138.9¢), WA (130.6¢), Queensland (135¢), Victoria (134.8¢), NSW/ACT (125.8¢) and South Australia (121.7¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 119.2¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (120.2¢), Perth (129.6¢), Brisbane (134.5¢), Melbourne (137.2¢), Darwin (138.2¢), Canberra (139.4¢) and Hobart (142.2¢).
