The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell by 1.6¢ to 127.1¢ a litre nationally in the week ending March 12, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s Weekly Petrol Prices report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell by 1.9¢ to 124.6¢ a litre, with the regional price falling 0.9¢ to 132.3¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 142.3¢ a litre, followed by the Northern Territory (140¢), WA (131.1¢), NSW/ACT (128.7¢), Queensland (126.3¢), Victoria (124.6¢) and South Australia (119.6¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 116.3¢ a litre, followed by Brisbane (121.3¢), Melbourne (124.2¢), Sydney (124.6¢), Perth (130.1¢), Canberra (139.5¢), Darwin (139.8¢) and Hobart (142.2¢).
