BP is launching smartphone payment technology that allows consumers to buy fuel without leaving their vehicle.
The BPMe app gives customers the power to pay for their fuel, track their odometer, store electronic fuel receipts and locate their closest BP service station, all from their smartphones.
It will be available to select BP Plus cardholders from August, after which it will become available to a broader group of BP Plus customers across 240 participating service stations.
BP VP of Sales and Marketing Brooke Miller says smartphone penetration rates in Australia are some of the highest in the world and customers have been demanding mobile payment solutions.
“It’s the way of the future and BP is at the front of this innovation,” she said.
“We recognise the importance of mobile and card-less payments to this customer base and we understand the need for faster transaction times and easier payment processes.
Ultimately, we’re giving time back to our customers by delivering a faster way to refuel.”
