APCO Wangaratta in Victoria’s north-east, joint winner of the AACS annual award for Store of the Year and Independent Store of the Year, presents the ultimate modern convenience and foodservice offer, according to the APCO fuel, convenience and cafe group.
The Australian Association of Convenience Stores for the first time honoured joint winners of its Store of the Year award at its AACS Connect 22 event in Sydney in March.
APCO Director Robert Anderson says APCO Service Stations Wangaratta is proud to receive the award jointly with Urbanista Cafe & Convenience at Colyton in western Sydney.
“This is a well-deserved award for [APCO Wangaratta retail partners] Brett and Karen Anderson, who pride themselves on their customer service,” he told Convenience World.
The pair have managed the business since 2012, presiding over a refurbishment completed in late 2020 that has transformed it from a grab-and-go site to a one-stop shop for groceries, dine-in or takeaway food, and barista-made coffee.
Featured within this store is an IGA X-press offering a 24-hour supermarket with competitive grocery prices and an extensive fresh produce range. Increased parking allows for longer stays for shopping, and an upgraded car wash features up-to-the-minute technology.
Digital TV screens show current deals and promotions.
The Cafe 24/7 hospitality offering within the APCO brand features food freshly made on site with hot and cold, on-the-go and ready-to-eat options. These cover snacking, breakfast, lunch and dinner choices plus barista made coffee and refreshments at competitive prices. On offer are ready-to-go breakfast products, freshly made salads, sandwiches, rolls, wraps and a range of paninis for lunch, plus evening take-home and eat-in meal solutions. The store also offers ‘better-for-you’ yoghurts, nuts, salads, dips and vegies, and boiled egg packs, all made on site.
“Brett and Karen are proud of their people development and have a close-knit team who benefit from staff socialising and celebrating birthdays together, as well as extensive in-store training,” Mr Anderson said.
The store is well known and recognised in the community with 2302 followers on Facebook and 320 on Instagram, with whom they communicate regularly, forming a strong community network.
“Brett and Karen look forward to building on the high standards that won these awards and they take great delight in serving the Wangaratta community,” Mr Anderson said.
