The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 8.1¢ to 173.6¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 7 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 8.4¢ to 169¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 7.5¢ to 182.9¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 209.2¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (190.1¢), South Australia (178.3¢), NSW/ACT (173.9¢), Victoria (173.9¢), Western Australia (170.7¢), and Queensland (169.2¢).
Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 164.2¢ a litre, followed by Brisbane (164.3¢), Sydney (165.5¢), Melbourne (170.2¢), Adelaide (178¢), Hobart (189.9¢), Darwin (197.9¢), and Canberra (198.3¢).
