The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 0.7¢ to 194.1¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 4 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 0.3¢ to 196.7¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 1.6¢ to 188.7¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in Victoria at 200.5¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (199.4¢), the Northern Territory (198.8¢), NSW/ACT (191.5¢), Tasmania (189.4¢), South Australia (185.2¢), and Western Australia (183.9¢).
Of the major cities, Darwin offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 182.7¢ a litre, followed by Perth (183¢), Adelaide (185.1¢), Hobart (187.6¢), Sydney (190.9¢), Canberra (196¢), Brisbane (205.8¢), and Melbourne (206.5¢).
