Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 4.6¢ to 186.8¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 30 April, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 6.1¢ to 186.2¢ a litre, while the regional price rose by 1.3¢ to 188.1¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 198.1¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (194.1¢), Queensland (193.9¢), NSW/ACT (186.1¢), Victoria (185.2¢), Western Australia (184.8¢), and South Australia (176.8¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 173¢ a litre, followed by Darwin (183.3¢), Perth (183.5¢), Sydney (183.7¢), Melbourne (185.8¢), Canberra (189.7¢), Hobart (193.6¢), and Brisbane (196.9¢).
