The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 0.4¢ to 175.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 29 January, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 0.7¢ to 173.8¢ a litre, while the regional price remained at 178.8¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 191.1¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (181.7¢), South Australia (180.5¢), Western Australia (178.1¢), Queensland (174.6¢), NSW/ACT (174.2¢), and Victoria (173.9¢).
Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 169.8¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (172.7¢), Brisbane (173.9¢), Darwin (175.8¢), Perth (177.2¢), Canberra (177.9¢), and Adelaide (181.3¢) and Hobart (181.3¢).
