Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 10.4¢ to 173.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 25 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 15.2¢ to 176.3¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 0.9¢ to 169.1¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 187.9¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (178.9¢), Victoria (175.6¢), NSW/ACT (175.4¢), Tasmania (173.7¢), Western Australia (168.4¢), and South Australia (156.4¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 152.7¢ a litre, followed by Perth (167¢), Hobart (170.9¢), Darwin (173.4¢), Canberra (177.3¢), Sydney (178.7¢), Melbourne (179.7¢), and Brisbane (185.1¢).
