The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 6.6¢ to 211¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 24 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 7.6¢ to 212.6¢ a litre, while the regional price rose by 4.7¢ to 207.7¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 215.5¢ a litre, followed by Victoria (214.9¢), NSW/ACT (214.7¢), South Australia (214.2¢), Tasmania (213.7¢), Western Australia (206¢), and Queensland (201.2¢).
Of the major cities, Brisbane offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 199.8¢ a litre, followed by Perth (204.7¢), Darwin (204.8¢), Canberra (209.5¢), Hobart (213.3¢), Sydney (217.5¢), Adelaide (217.5¢), and Melbourne (219.7¢).
