Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia dropped 6.8¢ to 107.2¢ a litre nationally in the week ending April 19, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped by 7.9¢ to 102.7¢ a litre, with the regional price dropping by 4.3¢ to 116.4¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in Northern Territory at 137.0¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (129.8¢), South Australia (108.3¢), Victoria (108.0¢), NSW/ACT (106.7¢) Western Australia (105.0¢), and Queensland (104.0¢).

Of the major cities, Brisbane offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 97.8¢ a litre, followed by Perth (98.9¢), Sydney (100.4¢), Melbourne (105.0¢), Adelaide (106.0¢), Canberra (120.8¢), Darwin (123.3¢), and Hobart (132.2¢).
