Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia dropped 2.4¢ to 128.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending April 19, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped 2.6¢ to 127.4¢ a litre, while the regional price dropped 2.4¢ to 130.0¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 149.0¢, then Tasmania at 139.9¢ a litre, followed by Western Australia (130.3¢), Queensland (129.1), Victoria (128.0¢), NSW/ACT (127.0¢) and South Australia (124.3¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 121.2¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (122.6¢), Melbourne (127.2¢), Canberra (127.5¢), Brisbane (128.1¢), Perth (129.5¢), Darwin (132.0¢) and Hobart (142.8¢).
