Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 1.8¢ to 186¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 23 February, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 2.7¢ to 187.7¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 0.1¢ to 182.5¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in Queensland at 199.6¢ a litre, followed by the Northern Territory (196¢), Victoria (189.8¢), Tasmania (186.7¢), Western Australia (179.9¢), NSW/ACT (179.6¢), and South Australia (172.4¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 169.9¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (176¢), Perth (178.4¢), Darwin (180.7¢), Hobart (184.8¢), Melbourne (193.8¢), Canberra (194.7¢), and Brisbane (208.1¢).
