The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 3.3¢ to 170.4¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 23 January, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 3.4¢ to 172.4¢, while the regional price rose 3¢ to 166.3¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 178.8¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (176.7¢), Tasmania (176.6¢), NSW/ACT (173.2¢), South Australia (167.4¢), Victoria (164.5¢), and Western Australia (164¢).
Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 162.7¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (165.2¢), Adelaide (169¢), Canberra (170.4¢), Darwin (171.1¢), Sydney (178.4¢), Hobart (179.7¢), and Brisbane (182.2¢).
