The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell by 0.9¢ to 119.1¢ a litre nationally in the week ending August 6, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s Weekly Petrol Prices report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell by 0.9¢ to 116.9¢ a litre, with the regional price falling 0.8¢ to 123.7¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 136¢ a litre, followed by the Northern Territory (131.3¢), South Australia (128.5¢), Queensland (123.9¢), Western Australia (121.5¢), NSW/ACT (115.7¢) and Victoria (113.8¢).
Of the major cities, Melbourne offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 110.9¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (111¢), Perth (119.2¢), Brisbane (122.4¢), Canberra (127.9¢), Darwin (128.2¢), Adelaide (130.1¢) and Hobart (135.9¢).
