Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 3.2¢ to 157.4¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 19 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 4.6¢ to 160.1¢, while the regional price rose 0.2¢ to 151.9¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in Queensland at 165.7¢ a litre, followed by Victoria (161.6¢), Northern Territory (161.4¢), Tasmania (156.2¢), NSW/ACT (156.1¢), Western Australia (149.7¢), and South Australia (138.9¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 135.4¢ a litre, followed by Perth (149¢), Darwin (151.8¢), Hobart (155.7¢), Sydney (157.8¢), Canberra (159.5¢), Melbourne (166.9¢), and Brisbane (172.8¢).
