The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 0.6¢ to 175.3¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 18 December, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 0.6¢ to 172.5¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 3¢ to 181¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 194.3¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (183.9¢), South Australia (179.3¢), NSW/ACT (177.1¢), Victoria (173.3¢), and Queensland (173¢) and Western Australia (173¢).
Of the major cities, Brisbane offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 170.1¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (170.7¢), Perth (170.9¢), Sydney (173¢), Adelaide (179.6¢), Darwin (179.6¢), Canberra (179.8¢), and Hobart (184.8).
