The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 4.2¢ to 157¢ a litre nationally in the week ending September 30, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 5¢ to 157.5¢ a litre, with the regional price also rising 2.7¢ to 156.2¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the NT at 165.2¢ a litre, followed by Victoria (160.7¢), Tasmania (160.6¢), NSW/ACT (159¢), WA (154.7¢), Queensland (153.3¢) and SA (148.8¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 146.5¢ a litre, followed by Brisbane (152¢), Perth (153.3¢), Darwin (157.1¢), Canberra (160.3¢), Hobart (160.7¢), Sydney (161.1¢) and Melbourne (163.1¢).
