Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 8¢ to 166.3¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 17 April, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 8.4¢ to 161.6¢, while the regional price fell 7¢ to 176.1¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 192.9¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (185.3¢), NSW/ACT (169.3¢), Queensland (167¢), Western Australia (164.4¢), Victoria (162.9¢), and South Australia (158.2¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 151.3¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (159.5¢), Perth (160.2¢), Brisbane (162.9¢), Sydney (163.2¢), Canberra (175.9¢), Darwin (185.2¢), and Hobart (187.9¢).
