The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 3.4¢ to 149¢ a litre nationally in the week ending May 12, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 4.4¢ to 149.2¢ a litre, with the regional price rising 1.6¢ to 148.7¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in SA at 158.4¢ a litre, followed by the NT (155.5¢), Tasmania (154.5¢), Victoria (153.5¢), WA (149.6¢), Queensland (145.4¢) and NSW/ACT (144.7¢).
Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 140.3¢ a litre, followed by Brisbane (144.2¢), Darwin (144.9¢), Canberra (147.4¢), Perth (149.4¢), Hobart (154.1¢), Melbourne (156.7¢) and Adelaide (162.4¢).
