Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 3.9¢ to 178.6¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 16 October, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 6.6¢ to 176.6¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 1.6¢ to 182.7¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was the Northern Territory at 195.2¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (189.5¢), Western Australia (180¢), NSW/ACT (178.8¢), Queensland (178¢), Victoria (177.2¢), and South Australia (177¢).

Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 174.5¢a litre, followed by Adelaide (175.2¢), Brisbane (176.4¢), Melbourne (177.1¢), Perth (177.4¢), Darwin (181.7¢), Canberra (185.3¢), and Hobart (188.7¢).
