The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 5.9¢ to 167.1¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 16 January, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 8.6¢ to 169¢, while the regional price rose 0.5¢ to 163.3¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 177¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (174.7¢), Queensland (174.4¢), Western Australia (168.9¢), Victoria (167.7¢), NSW/ACT (164.3¢), and South Australia (152.5¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 149.7¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (164.7¢), Darwin (169.1¢), Canberra (169.3¢), Perth (169.6¢), Melbourne (170.4¢), Hobart (178.6¢), and Brisbane (180.2¢).
