Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 6.2¢ to 180¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 15 January, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 8.6¢ to 179.6¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 1.4¢ to 180.9¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 192.2¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (184.1¢), Victoria (182.3¢), Tasmania (181.9¢), NSW/ACT (180.3¢), Western Australia (174.2¢), and South Australia (167.7¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 163.8¢ a litre, followed by Perth (172.3¢), Canberra (176.9¢), Darwin (177.2¢), Sydney (178.2¢), Hobart (181.1), Melbourne (184¢), and Brisbane (187.6¢).
