The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 4.8¢ to 168.8¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 14 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 4¢ to 165¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 6.2¢ to 176.7¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 206¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (185.4¢), Western Australia (172.5¢), NSW/ACT (169.5¢), Queensland (168.3¢), Victoria (165.9¢), and South Australia (163.5¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 159.3¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (162.4¢), Sydney (162.5¢), Brisbane (165.9¢), Perth (168.4¢), Hobart (187.1¢), Canberra (191.7¢), and Darwin (194.9¢).
