The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 1.4¢ to 187.4¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 14 July, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 1.8¢ to 186.5¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 0.9¢ to 189.4¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 200.6¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (193.4¢), NSW/ACT (191.6¢), Western Australia (186.9¢), Queensland (186.4¢), South Australia (185.5¢), and Victoria (182.9¢).
Of the major cities, Melbourne offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 181.9¢ a litre, followed by Brisbane (184.8¢), Adelaide (185¢), Darwin (185¢), Perth (186.1¢), Sydney (191.9¢), Hobart (193.1¢), and Canberra (197¢).
