Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 5.1¢ to 162.8¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 12 December, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 7¢ to 162.1¢, while the regional price fell 1.2¢ to 164.2¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 177¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (174.9¢), NSW/ACT (172.4¢), Queensland (163.1¢), Western Australia (157.7¢), Victoria (155.3¢), and South Australia (149.7¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 146.2¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (153.2¢), Perth (155.1¢), Brisbane (162.1¢), Darwin (169.1¢), Canberra (170¢), Sydney (178.7¢), and Hobart (178.7¢).
