The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 2.3¢ to 184.7¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 1 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 3.6¢ to 185.4¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 0.3¢ to 183.3¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 193¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (192.9¢), NSW/ACT (192.5¢), Tasmania (182.6¢), Western Australia (178.5¢), Victoria (174.5¢), and South Australia (173.3¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 170.8¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (172.8¢), Darwin (175.9¢), Perth (177.3¢), Hobart (181.4¢), Canberra (189.2¢), Sydney (197.3¢), and Brisbane (199.6¢).
